Convalidations

Catholics who married outside the Catholic Church without dispensation, either in a civil ceremony or in another faith tradition, can re-enter into full communion with the Church by having their marriages convalidated. Annulments

 

Anyone previously married, whether in the Church or in any other setting, and whose previous spouse is still alive, regardless of civil divorce or civil annulment, is not free to marry in the Church.
